Maureen C. Pavely

Counsel

Maureen C. Pavely joined Epstein Ostrove after practicing for almost 30 years in the complex commercial litigation department of a large regional law firm. She practices in the areas of commercial and employment litigation with experience in restrictive covenants, trade secrets, unfair competition, breach of duty of loyalty, professional and general liability, business fraud, and other areas.

Maureen has been involved with and led all phases of litigation, including management of large-scale discovery, dispositive motions, trial preparation, and trial evidential issues. She coordinates electronic and paper record collection and manages large and small-scale document review projects in numerous complex litigation and employment matters. She holds the Certified Electronic Discovery Specialist (CEDS) designation of ACEDS, a certification requiring a rigorous peer reviewed examination in information technology, project management fundamentals, evidence management technology, and discovery jurisprudence.

She applies her legal and technology skills to advocate for individuals, small business owners, and businesses of all sizes. She documents sources of responsive information and crafts proportional discovery plans. She challenges meritless objections to discovery and makes digital evidence issues understandable to the trier of fact. She uses her experience in discovery advocacy and technical knowledge to advance and protect a party’s discovery rights and her legal project management abilities to strive for effective cost containment.

Maureen has been recognized as a New Jersey Super Lawyer and was selected to the list of Super Lawyer Rising Stars. She is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Maureen has been recognized as an NJBiz Leader In Law Honoree 2023.  The program assesses legal professionals for their outstanding dedication to their occupation and their communities.

She is a frequent lecturer and author on a variety of topics, including restrictive covenants, e-discovery, and ethics.

Maureen graduated with honors from Boston College Law School, cum laude, and from the George Washington University (BBA), summa cum laude. She served as law clerk to The Honorable Herman D. Michaels, then presiding judge, Appellate Division, Superior Court of New Jersey, 1991-1992.

In her free time, Maureen holds various leadership positions in youth organizations promoting community service and STEM education programming. She frequently can be found working on site at charity events and Eagle Scout projects throughout New Jersey. She is a longstanding supporter of the Ronald McDonald House of Providence, Rhode Island and is an avid fan of youth and professional soccer.
